Monthly Improv JAM

  • Music Box (Entrance Across from Bennett Martin Library) 1330 N Street Lincoln, NE, 68508 United States (map)

LIC’s Improv Jams are free and open to improvisers 18 and older!

What is a Long Form Improv Jam?

A long form Jam is a lightly structured session where you can practice improvising scenes with other members of our community. No preparation is required. We hope to build a supportive space to experiment, have fun, and build long-form improv skills by jumping in and playing with all types or differently skilled improvisers.

How is this different than Open Improv?

***One important difference to note: Our Jams will be open to folks 18 and older. We decided to keep our Jams 18+ to create a safe, honest practice environment for adults. This allows improvisers to fully explore content, vulnerability, and humor that may not be appropriate for minors, while keeping expectations clear and comfortable for everyone involved.

An Improv Jam is less structured than Open Improv. In Open Improv, we begin with some games and then we move into individual scenes. In a Jam, all the players are on the backline or on the wings, ready to edit and begin new scenes. If you've ever seen a long-form montage before - that's kind of the vibe we are going for. Depending on how many players we have, we may divide the room into 2 (or more!) groups of players.
